Tracking a warm up with a brutal cooldown tonight

TODAY: Wednesday is warm, with temperatures notably warmer than Tuesday in the morning, but also in the afternoon when highs reach near 50. Expect sunny skies with southwest winds becoming westerly through the day.

TONIGHT: A cold front will arrive after the dinner hour, sending temperatures plummeting overnight. Winds will be sustained around 10-15 mph, but gust to 30+ mph behind the front overnight. Temperatures fall to near 15 degrees by sunrise.

EXTENDED: We will start Thursday with feels like temperatures in the low single digits. Winds will remain from the north, but relax through the day, keeping highs in the 20s. Watch for black ice after a good day of snow pack melt on Wednesday. Friday will be another thaw, as south winds put temperatures back into the upper 30s. We'll keep mostly sunny skies forecast through the week, but a few clouds cloud return Saturday. We'll stay dry likely through Sunday, but Sunday night could bring showers in the south near I-44. There's still plenty of uncertainty regarding our next system, but it will likely warm us into the 40s and 50s Saturday and Sunday Respectively, with shower chances building in Sunday night into Monday.
