Tracking more warmth with few cool downs and little rain
TODAY: Wednesday is a cooler day, thanks to a passing cold front from overnight. Expect highs near 70 with a breeze from the north around 5-10 mph.
TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the 40s with clear and calm conditions thanks to passing high pressure.
EXTENDED: On the other side of high pressure, winds from the south return to warm us through the day on Thursday. The warmest air will peak to our west on Thursday afternoon, but we expect highs in the mid-70s Thursday afternoon. That peak in warmth to our west will come just ahead of a cold front that is on the way to bring a chance for weak showers. Light rain is likely along and north of HWY 24 with a moderate chance along I-70 Thursday night through Friday morning. A trace to a few hundredths is all that is expected, and most of it will come overnight, with only a few showers in the west before sunset, and a few in the east after sunrise possible. Friday will be mostly dry, just like Thursday. Temperatures behind the overnight front will max out near 70 Friday afternoon. The cooling will continue into the low 40s Saturday morning, with 60s the limit on the high side Saturday afternoon. With sunshine expected both days, Sunday will be a near carbon copy of Saturday as high pressure is expansive over the region. After it passes, southerly flow from a tight pressure gradient will keep breezy conditions across the region Monday into Tuesday. That south breeze will likely warm us into the upper 70s, or well above average, into early next week.
