Tracking a freeze overnight
TODAY: Some light showers are passing through this morning, along a reinforcement of cool air that will keep us blustery today. No meaningful rain is forecast, but early showers may leave a trace of rain in their wake as they depart around late morning early afternoon. We'll be overcast as these showers pass, but partly cloudy skies leave us bright this afternoon, so keep the sunglasses handy. Winds fill in behind these showers, from the north. Winds may gust 20-30 mph, keeping temperatures in the 50s at warmest.
TONIGHT: Skies will clear this afternoon, and tonight winds will calm. This combo helps us cool an already cooler air mass efficiently, leaving us with freezing temperatures across much of the region tonight. Take normal freeze precautions, including bringing in sensitive plants, water drainage, or turning on necessary heaters. All have a chance at a freeze.
EXTENDED: Wednesday morning is our coldest in the forecast. Highs return to near 60 Wednesday afternoon, and highs are forecast to climb into the upper 60s Thursday, and into the 70s over the weekend. We stay warm through early next week. We may have a close call with a freeze for some in the north on Thursday, but early morning temperatures won't likely dip below 40 Friday through Monday. Sunshine is forecast Wednesday through the weekend.
