Tracking clouds and showers Friday, ahead of limited rain chances over the weekend

TODAY: Friday is the day we feel the most impact from Francine. What this means for most is a cloudy and cool day in the 70s, with spotty showers. It's possible we hear a few rumbles of thunder this evening near I-44, but otherwise it will be a quiet day with light rain coming off and on in waves. Very little rain is forecast, with folks near I-44 having a chance of a quarter inch at most. Columbia would be lucky to record a tenth, and will likely be along the lines of a few hundredths.

TONIGHT: We'll be warm, in the mid-60s, as clouds continue to have a moderating impact.

EXTENDED: We start the day Saturday overcast, but may have a few peeks of sunshine through the day. This cloud help generate a shower or storm in the afternoon, but this is most likely east of HWY 63 in places like Montgomery City, Fulton, and Hermann. It's looking likely that we stay dry at Faurot Saturday, but a spot shower can't be ruled out. Another chance for storms comes Sunday afternoon, with enough moisture and instability to generate a cluster of storms in the east along the low level jet still lingering from Francine's remnants. Temperatures are near 80 Saturday and Sunday, with mostly dry conditions. This pattern continues through next week, but temperatures are expected to slowly climb into the mid-80s through the middle of next week as our upper level high pressure blocks any meaningful cool down.
