Tracking extreme heat on this side of a passing cold front

TODAY: Monday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. Temperatures near 100 and dewpoints in the 70s will yield air that feels like 105-110. We'll be mostly sunny, with a southwest wind at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: It will be a war night as well, with lows in the mid-70s. Storms from Iowa will blow through the northeastern part of the state, but likely miss us. A shower or weak storm may stray into the region overnight, but better chances for showers and storms come near sunrise as a slow moving cold front approaches the region.

EXTENDED: Tuesday will be cloudy and likely wet, with a slow moving front bringing multiple rounds of showers and storms chances to most locations. This will keep temperatures cool enough to avoid the 105+ heat index values, but we'll still be hot and muggy, with temperatures near 90 feeling like high 90s. Severe weather is unlikely on Tuesday, but an isolated instance of gusty winds or hail will be possible. Flooding will be a greater concern on Tuesday, as storms may train, and with decent rain rates. Wednesday will bring some showers early, as well as some humidity, but as the front moves south, rain chances and humidity will decrease through the day. Thursday through the weekend, we'll see mostly dry weather with highs in the low 80s alongside lower humidity. Our next chance for rain looks to hold off until Sunday at the soonest.
