Tracking a quiet start to the week

TODAY: Standing water currently has some roads closed across the region, so check the MODOT Traveler Information Map for information on low lying areas that typically flood. We have an array of flood alerts across the region this morning after a very wet weekend. The rain has come ton an end this morning, and clouds will clear soon, leaving us partly cloudy to mostly sunny on Monday. A westerly breeze will keep our highs limited to the low-to-mid 70s.

TONIGHT: Overnight, we'll stay mostly clear, but winds shift. Temperatures fall into the 50s.

EXTENDED: A shift to southerly winds overnight, plus additional sunshine through the day will climb Tuesday's highs into the 80s. We'll be watching thunderstorms in Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa during the day on Tuesday, that will likely roll in Tuesday night, likely after the dinner hour. These will weaken with eastward extent, but we may have to watch for a strong storm or two. Then we're watching a warm front lift across the region on Wednesday that could bring another focus for thunderstorms as well as another day in the 80s. We could see a strong storm along the front as it lifts north, but rain chances overall are low on Wednesday. Better chances for scattered showers and storms exists on Thursday. Highs are near 80, but strong storms don't look incredibly likely on Thursday. We'll likely clear by midday on Friday, leaving us drier and cooler with highs near 70. Drier weather returns for the weekend, but slight rain chances may return Sunday.
