Tracking a quiet start to next week

TODAY: It starts frosty, with temperatures in the 30s for many this morning, but we'll steadily climb, once the sun rises, into the 60s for highs. We'll be sunny, with a light northwest breeze. A frost advisory is in effect through this 8-9 a.m. this morning, depending on where you live.

TONIGHT: Expect another cool down tonight. With calming winds and clear skies as high pressure passes through the region, we expect temperatures to fall into the 30s across the region, again prompting concern for frost.

EXTENDED: After a frosty start Monday, we'll see a return of south winds which will drive warmth. We'll be partly cloudy, with a high near 70 on Monday. We'll be a few degrees warmer on Tuesday, but we'll add a chance for rain during the morning and early afternoon. A cold front will bring some weak showers and thunderstorms. We only see modest instability with some of our most excited guidance, so severe weather is not currently expected Tuesday. We could see up to a tenth of an inch of rain here. Wednesday and most of Thursday looks dry, with rain returning Thursday afternoon or Thursday night. Thursday's rain is shower and thunderstorm activity tied to a warm front of a low pressure system that arrives more squarely over the region by Friday. Rain chances are best Friday, and likely includes chances for thunderstorms. In fact, it is beginning to look like we could have a chance for strong to severe storms on Friday if all continues to hold together in the forecast. Interesting amounts of shear and instability would make this possible over much of the state. We're painting with a very broad brush at this point as we are still about 6 days out, and things WILL change, but overall the end of next week looks like an active pattern at least.
