Tracking a seasonable weekend with rain chances

TODAY: Friday is a bright day, despite some high and thin clouds arriving through the day. Temperatures starting near freezing, will likely land somewhere in the mid-to-upper 50s this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Clouds remain high and sparse overnight. Temperatures settle in the upper 30s. High pressure drifts by overnight, to our north. This guides winds increasingly from the east and southeast eventually on Saturday.

EXTENDED: This wind shift plus more sunshine should be enough to get us back into the 60s by Saturday afternoon. After sunset Saturday night, showers and a few weak thunderstorms will move in from the southwest. Rain likely arrives near Columbia and Jefferson City during the predawn hours Sunday, and lasts into the early morning. We may pick up anywhere between a tenth to a quarter of an inch. Sunday afternoon is likely dry with highs in the 70s. We'll stay dry on Monday. We start the day sunny, but high clouds from our next system will work in during the afternoon. Rain chances return Tuesday through Thursday with a system that skirts by to our south. How many of us see rain and how much is uncertain, but rain chances are best on Wednesday. Temperatures will linger in the low 70s and upper 60s for highs.
