Tracking a dry and sunny afternoon before Friday morning snow

TODAY; Afternoon highs warm near 50 degrees as skies remain mostly sunny with winds out of the northwest at 8-12 mph.

TONIGHT: Skies become partly cloudy as lows cool to near 30 degrees. Winds remain out of the east at 5-10 mph.

EXTENDED: A rain/sleet/ snow mixture arrives early Friday morning around 3 am. As the morning continues on, this switch over to predominantly snow occurs allowing for wet to slushy roadways. Snow showers push to the east by the early afternoon hours with totals ranging from 1"-2" from Columbia to the northeast. Most measurable snowfall stays confined to grassy and elevated surfaces with some slush to a dusting on roadways. A warm-up then begins into Sunday with plenty of sunshine lasting through much of next week.
