Groundhog Day accuracy

We are one day out from Groundhog Day which takes place Feb. 2 each year. The age old question many ask is, "How accurate is Punxsutawney Phil?"

Things aren't looking too great for the furry friend as his all-time recorded accuracy rate is 39% with the last decade seeing a 40% success rate. This points towards the notion to not sink too much fate in these forecast findings.

The extended three month temperature outlook put out by the Climate Prediction Center points towards near average temperatures thanks to the current El-Nino trends expected to last at least until April.

The extended three month precipitation outlook looks to remain near average also for Mid-Missouri with wetter than average conditions predicted just to the west back towards Kansas City, Missouri.
