Tracking more snow that brings one last round of accumulations

TODAY: Tuesday is our second of two ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days, as we continue to track rain and snow across the region this morning. This wintry mix favors rain in the southeast, and snow in the northwest early this morning, but will slowly changeover to snow through the morning. We expect all precipitation to become snow by the afternoon, where one final round of light snow will cap off the event, with a fresh coating of a drier snow. It will be hard to measure total snowfall for the event, given the melting, but most, if not all, should pick up some final accumulation with snow this afternoon. Another 2-4 inches could fall in the north from early this morning, through the evening. This will be possible as cold air filters in with this last round of snow, dropping temperatures through the afternoon. Our high of mid-30s will come this morning. For more details, read the latest from our ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog.

TONIGHT: Snow will wrap up through the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. window from west to east. Temperatures will be in the 20s by 8 p.m., falling into the teens by sunrise.

EXTENDED: Starting cold, temperatures begin in the teens, but climb to near 40 by the afternoon on Wednesday. Thursday will start in the 20s, and warm to near 40 through a mostly dry day, but rain returns late in the evening, with a chance for a mix to snow overnight. This next approaching system will continue with rain and snow showers in the region on Friday. This will likely be another very borderline event, with temperatures supportive of little to no accumulation for some, but possible limited accumulations for others. Stay tuned for more details on this, but what is becoming more clear is that a cold snap will take place over the weekend. Temperatures will likely fall into the teens, if not single digits Saturday morning. With winds, we could feel like subzero. Temperatures are not exact in the forecast, but there is a good chance for highs in the teens both Sunday and Monday.
