Tracking below average temperatures and limited rainfall

TONIGHT: As our heat dome breaks down, we see growing rain chances and less heat in the forecast. Partly cloudy skies will clear after sunset, and we'll see mostly clear skies overnight.

TOMORROW: We'll start in the upper 70s early Friday, with partly cloudy skies developing through the morning, and even turning into a chance for isolated storms by the afternoon. This will be something we'll have to monitor in addition to extreme heat for Friday night football, as lightning will be a risk with storms that develop. However, storms will die with sunset, and most games have already been pushed back to 8 p.m. in consideration of the heat. Speaking of heat, feels like temperatures through Friday afternoon will still push 105-110.

EXTENDED: A cold front will arrive Friday, night, but won't have much meaningful impact until Saturday. We'll likely see highs on Saturday in the upper 80s, which is an improvement, but we'll still feel like mid-90s through the first half of the day. Exact timing on cooling is uncertain, but we may begin to feel relief by the afternoon. We will also have a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms through the morning and afternoon on Saturday. Rain chances linger into Sunday, where we will be much cooler, with highs in the upper 70s. Drier and cooler weather returns for next week, with daily sunshine and highs in the low 80s Monday through Thursday.
