Tracking dangerous heat most of the weekend and next week
TONIGHT: Friday evening is our last with below average temperatures for a while. From here, temperatures return to an above average pattern for what is likely to be one to two weeks. Expect temps to fall into the 60s overnight, under mostly clear skies.
TOMORROW: Saturday kicks off our warm up with winds from the south around 5-10 mph. Expect mostly sunny skies and highs in the high 90s, to low triple digits. 100+ temperatures are most likely west of Columbia and Jefferson City.
EXTENDED: It's a noticeably hotter day on Sunday which is a pattern that will likely continue, so we've issued an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for Sunday through Wednesday. Expect feels like temperatures generally in the 105-110 every afternoon in that stretch, and possibly into Thursday and Friday, although confidence is not high on this heat lasting that long. We will have a chance for a sprinkle or two on Saturday night as a weak front drops in from the north, but don't expect much, and certainly don't expect any cooler air. We'll likely not notice much change from this front at all, in fact it may pool our humidity in front of it, making it feel even warmer Saturday night. Otherwise, chances for precipitation are missing in the forecast until at least Thursday, where statistically models are showing a 10 percent chance. Realistically, rain is not expected to return in the next 7 days, and may also be hard to come by in the following 7 days.
