Tracking isolated afternoon storms and a summer-like pattern ahead

TODAY: For many, Wednesday will be much like Tuesday, but the differentiator will be moisture. Not only will we notice a bit more humidity today, but enough atmospheric moisture has returned to instigate a chance for isolated thunderstorms just about areawide. Storms are very spotty, and will develop around 3 p.m., before dying after sunset. Temperatures reach low-to-mid 80s again today.

TONIGHT: Remnant showers may persist into the overnight hours, but we should see precipitation largely end overnight. Temperatures will fall into the low 60s.

EXTENDED: Thursday brings a cold front from the northeast. This will clear rain chances for some, but it's beginning to look like it may not spare those near HWY 65. Folks from Sedalia to the Lake of the Ozarks will have another chance at isolated thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, but Columbia and Jefferson city are likely far enough east that rain chances disappear. We'll just barely hang onto 80s for Thursday, but 70s are back for Friday. The cooldown is temporary, as we return to 80s on Saturday, and it's a steady climb into the upper 80s by early next week. We may hit 90 by midweek. Rain chances are slim into next week, with only hints at rain by Tuesday.
