Tracking a sunny week that offers only slim chances for rain

TODAY: Monday is a carbon copy of Sunday, with abundant sunshine, and a high just a few degrees warmer, near 80. Winds are light from the southeast, sustained near 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: Winds will relax a bit, but remain from the southeast, and temperatures will fall into the mid-to-upper 50s.

EXTENDED: It's a very calm and quiet forecast the next week. It kicks off on Tuesday, with another sunny day, pushing temperatures a few degrees warmer. Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, a batch of moisture will get pushed in from the southeast as it rides the edge of high pressure that sits to our east. This will bring a chance for isolated showers and storms Tuesday night and Wednesday respectively. Most will stay dry, but things quiet down on Thursday as increasing high pressure from the east will push cooler and drier air in from the northeast. You may hear us refer to this as a "backdoor cold front", as it is arriving from the opposite direction as usual. This drier air should stick with us into the weekend. This is largely dependent on how well the high pressure can hold in place, so confidence in dry weather will decrease with time. Still, things look mostly dry through Sunday.
