Tracking strong to severe afternoon/ evening storms

Today: Afternoon highs reach into the low 80s ahead of an approaching cold front. Along and in front of the passing front, strong to severe storms will form moving southeast this afternoon after 3 pm. The main threats with these storms will be strong winds and the potential for damaging hail. The tornado threat is low but not zero.

Tonight: The severe risk diminishes after 9 pm with the passage of the cold front. Southern portions of Mid-Missouri could still see weaker spotty showers and storms. Overnight lows cool to the upper 50s.

Extended: Tuesday and Wednesday see drier conditions with the possibility of an isolated shower/ storm in western Mid-Missouri counties. Highs remain into the lower to mid-80s into the second half of the week lasting through the weekend. Thursday throughout the weekend sees more scattered chances of showers and storms leading to more chances of widespread rainfall totals increasing.
