Tracking rain tonight and snow tomorrow

TODAY: Thursday is a nearly average day temperature-wise. Expect temperatures to approach upper 40s and low 50s from north to south, with an exception near the Lake of the Ozarks. This is where we've been exceptionally warm the past few days, but approaching showers and storms after the lunch hour will keep temperatures in the 40s this afternoon.

TONIGHT: This rain overspreads the region overnight, lasting into the early Friday morning hours.

EXTENDED: Rain totals are looking at nearly an inch at least for just about all of mid-Missouri, as this rain lingers well into Friday. Friday morning, temperatures will drop into the 30s, allowing for snow to make it to the ground. We expect snow to mix in with the rain through the day. Precipitation will wrap up in the afternoon where highs are forecast in the low 40s. For more on this event, read our latest Insider Blog. The weekend looks more pleasant, with dry weather forecast as temperatures rebound into the 50s Saturday, and 60s Sunday. Monday, temperatures are expected to swell into the upper 60s with warm air pushing into the region. Moisture will start to build to our south through mid-week, and while their are still questions as to whether or not it makes it here, we will carry a mention of rain chances both Tuesday and Wednesday for now, with the understanding that they are relatively low chances at this time. We are looking at temperatures possibly dropping below normal by the middle of next week.
