Tracking sunshine today and thunderstorms tomorrow

TUESDAY: Pleasant weather continues Tuesday, with highs in the 50s under mostly sunny skies.

TONIGHT: Winds late in the day turn from the south after starting from the north Tuesday morning. This is accompanied by some high level clouds late in the afternoon that move in overnight. These features keep temperatures warming through the night, putting temperatures in the mid-50s by sunrise. Some showers are possible by midnight, but largely, rain is expected to hold off until early Wednesday.

EXTENDED: Showers and thunderstorms will push in from the west around mid-Morning on Wednesday, where some storms will have strong to severe potential. The main threat with any severe storms will be damaging winds, but hail and even a tornado cannot be ruled out completely. Most of mid-Missouri shares the same risk of severe weather Wednesday morning. Still, the largest impact from these storms will be the spring-like rain we get along with them. Many will have the chance at picking up at least an inch or rain. We'll dry out by the evening on Wednesday, and skies clear by Thursday, when temperatures cool significantly. Temperatures may fall all day long, with a high in the 40s. Friday morning we're starting near 20, and climbing only near 40 for highs. With cool air in place, moisture moving back in Friday night may start as a mix, before transitioning to rain. Chances for showers remain Saturday, but chances are slim and we look mostly dry. Better chances for rain return Sunday and Monday, where temperatures have rebounded into the upper 50s.
