Tracking rain arriving Tuesday

TODAY: Monday is shaping up cool thanks to an east wind and some more stubborn cloud cover. This keeps highs in the 40s through the afternoon. Some fog is possible early this morning.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the 30s overnight, as cloud cover lingers.

EXTENDED: Winds turn more southerly early Tuesday, which will pick up the pace of warming early. Showers move in just before sunrise for those to the west, and spread northeast through the morning. More widespread rainfall comes by late morning and early afternoon, as the occluded front of this system approaches. Widespread rainfall and even some thunder is forecast through the afternoon and into the evening. We're starting to dry up after the dinner hour to the west, and rain should clear areawide by midnight. Temperatures climb into the mid-50s ahead of the rain Tuesday, and cool into the 30s again overnight into Wednesday. More sunshine returns Wednesday morning, and temperatures will benefit from it, remaining in the 40s despite a shifting wind. We're fully in cooler air on Thursday, as the back end of the same system brings cold west northwest wind, and cloudy skies. Cloud cover remains into Friday. With the clouds will come a slim chance for a passing flurry Thursday night and Friday, but any snow would be ornamental and no impacts are expected. Expect highs in the 30s Thursday, with cold air sticking around into the weekend. Hints of sunshine return Saturday and Sunday.
