Tracking a gloomy day, with more wet weather on the way

TODAY: Winds are from the north Tuesday as a surface low pressure system passes by just to our south through the afternoon. This, plus added clouds and moisture land our highs in the mid-40s today. It's a dreary day on tap, as the low brings low clouds, light showers, and drizzle throughout the day. Precipitation will move in from the south, arriving by mid-morning, and lasting through the evening. Best chances for precipitation come south of I-70, but chances for precipitation lie areawide.

TONIGHT: Skies dry up late this evening, but clouds linger overnight. Winds remain from the north cooling us into the 30s, with some dropping below freezing. This wont last long as winds start to shift from the south by sunrise.

EXTENDED: Wednesday starts with south winds as another surface low. This one is more potent, and brings better chances for measurable rainfall. We're looking warmer as the low approaches, and clouds will increase through the day, but rainfall likely holds off until Wednesday evening. Once rain starts after the dinner hour, it likely continues in an off and on fashion through the night and most of the day Thursday. An inch or more is possible, especially south of I-70, with those to the north and west likely to pick up less than half an inch. Locally higher amounts north of 70 are possible depending on the low's track. Dry weather returns for Friday, with potential for more sunshine, despite the possibility of lingering clouds. Friday and Saturday find themselves in-between two systems, as another returns as soon as Sunday. Temperatures cool slightly toward the end of the week, landing in the 40s, after highs near 50 Wednesday and Thursday. Better rain chances return by the end of the weekend, as another system lifts through the Midwest Sunday into Monday. Currently, no significant signs of winter weather are found in this week's forecast.
