Tracking a weekend warmup into a chance for rain

TODAY: Thursday continues our warm up, and will feel much warmer than early this week. Temperatures will climb into the low 70s for highs this afternoon. Our winds will generally flow from the southwest to the west through the day, sustained around 10 mph. Gusts may climb into the 15-20 mph range.

TONIGHT: Temperatures overnight will only fall into the low 40s thanks to warmer air moving into mid-Missouri. Winds remain from the southwest, but will relax to around 5mph by sunrise.

EXTENDED: Friday's highs have potential to reach low 80s with mostly sunny skies, and southwest winds sustained near 15 mph, and gusting as high as 20-25 mph. Conditions look breezier yet on Saturday as southerly winds gust into the 25-30 mph range. This climbs temperatures further into the 80s. We're dry through the week until Sunday, where we'll pick up a chance for showers. Sunday is another 80+ degree day, with mostly dry conditions, but increasing clouds and a slight chance for evening showers. This will precede a cold front that arrives around midday on Monday. Widespread showers are expected, with limited thunder potential through the day on Monday. Many may see measurable rain, with a widespread possibility of totals near an inch. Rain will generally come to an end by Tuesday morning, but for now, a slim chance for rain remains for the early hours. Drier weather will settle in by the middle of next week.
