Tracking near-record lows before a late week warm-up
Today: Temperatures continue to remain well below average as afternoon highs top out into the upper 40s. Winds remain out of the northwest sustained at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Skies remain mostly clear. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for the southern half of the viewing area due to dangerous burning conditions.
Tonight: A freeze warning is in effect until 9 am Tuesday morning due to overnight lows tonight cooling into the mid-20s as some areas might see the wind chill cool to the upper teens as winds gust out of the northwest at 10-15 mph.
Extended: Conditions remain well below average until Thursday afternoon where we need highs into the low to mid 60s thanks to a shift from the lower-level winds out of the southwest. These winds paired with mostly sunny conditions will lead to a continued warming trend with highs peaking into the upper 70s by this coming weekend. A chance of widespread showers return Monday afternoon as an additional cold front makes its way across Mid-Missouri.
