Tracking a mild and dry stretch with rain chances on the horizon

TODAY: Mostly clear skies this morning, partnered with calm to light winds has led to some fog potential this morning. Temperatures in the low to mid-60s by sunrise will give us a cool and crisp start to the day. This will also set us up for cooler than normal expected highs in the mid-80s. Patchy dense fog in some areas this may turn into low clouds for some this morning, leading to a period of partly cloudy skies this morning, but overall a return to mostly sunny skies is expected by this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Clear skies lend to another big cool down overnight tonight into early Thursday. Temperatures fall into the low 60s by sunrise.

EXTENDED: Thursday is another clear start, but high clouds move in during the day. Northwest flow in the upper atmosphere will bring a broken blanket of clouds that may be enough to keep a partly cloudy sky for much of the day. Still, as this may be a fairly thin layer of clouds, we'll keep mostly sunny the official forecast. Expect temperatures to actually climb a few degrees, into the upper 80s, as some warm air starts to spill in from the west. On Friday, a weak cold front crawls in from the northeast, at least keeping temperatures in the 80s, but likely bouncing us back into the mid-80s. A few extra clouds come with this. Meanwhile, at the upper levels of the atmosphere, we have wind out of the northwest, which will continue to bring disturbances that keep cloud cover in play. Partly cloudy, but mostly dry weather sticks heading into the weekend, as winds at the surface bring in more warmth from the southwest. Rain chances remain low through the weekend, but grow by Tuesday.
