Tracking dangerous heat
Today: Temperatures will continue to surge into the triple digits with the heat index reaching 105 degrees across many areas. Winds remain out of the south at 5-10 mph. Skies remain mostly sunny with chances of isolated afternoon showers/ storms near the highway 44 region. Storms will remain short lived and very spotty.
Tonight: Skies look to remain mostly clear with overnight lows cooling to the mid to lower 70's. Winds remain out of the south at 5-10 mph.
Extended: Temperatures will increase even higher Saturday afternoon with some areas seeing up to 104 degree highs. The heat index will surge above 105 degrees leading to dangerous widespread heat across Central Missouri. Skies remain sunny as a low pressure system will start to pull southeast by Sunday. Chances of scattered showers and storms will move in by Sunday late afternoon and become more widespread by Monday morning. This will assist in cooling next weeks afternoon highs back into the upper 80's and lower 90's. Chance's of scattered showers and storms will remain in Mid-Missouri throughout the duration of next week.
