Tracking much needed rain heading into the weekend

TODAY: Starting in the upper 60s this morning and landing in the 90s this afternoon, Thursday is shaping up very similar to Wednesday, just a few degrees warmer. Mostly sunny skies, and highs in the mid-90s are expected with a south breeze this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Skies stay clear through the evening, before beginning to cloud up in the early morning hours on Friday, ahead of a round of showers approaching from the northwest. Temperatures fall into the low 70s by sunrise.

EXTENDED: Showers and a few rumbles of thunder will be approaching from the northwest just after sunrise. This activity will be decaying as it arrives, but some stand to pick up some rainfall through the morning hours, with better chances lying north of I-70. Behind this round, more dry weather is expected, allowing us to climb back into the low 90s. The next round of rain doesn't move back in until Saturday night, meaning most will see dry skies for the majority of Saturday, with highs in the low-to-mid 90s. Our next round of rain arrives with a wave late Saturday night into Sunday morning. This may keep highs in the upper 80s for some on Sunday. The rain chance should focus on Sunday morning, with a better chance at drier weather by the evening. Totals generally look to amount to less than a half an inch for the entire weekend. Little rain is expected through the first half of next week, with temperatures climbing into the upper 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
