Tracking dangerous heat and spotty overnight storms

Today: Temperatures will continue to rise into the upper 90's potentially falling just short or matching the record high set back in 1988 of 98 degrees. Skies remain clear this afternoon as the heat index climbs into the lower triple digits.

Tonight: Overnight lows fall to the mid-70's as chances for overnight scattered storms increase for the northwestern part of Central Missouri after 8pm. These storms will be short lived with the chance for a few stronger storms possible. The main threats will be strong winds and hail. These storms will lose moisture later tonight after midnight dissipating.

Extended: Chances of late morning/ early afternoon storms appear thanks to a passing low pressure system. Temperatures cool to the upper 80's for the afternoon high. Chances of scattered showers and storms remain in Central Missouri as we head into the weekend with temperatures near dangerous levels once again on Saturday. A cooldown back to average temperatures is in store heading into next week with highs back into the mid-80's.
