Tracking a quiet start to the weekend

TODAY: Early Thursday morning, low level clouds are clearing behind Wednesday's cold front. This will last a short while before more high level clouds blow in from a complex of thunderstorms well to our south. Otherwise, dry weather settles in under partly cloudy skies Thursday. Cooler air remains in place behind the front; expect highs in the mid 70s.

TONIGHT:

Clear skies tonight into Friday morning allow temperatures to fall quickly, down into the low 50s to start Friday morning.

EXTENDED: Friday's cool start is due largely to high pressure sitting overhead. This cooler and drier air mass will have Friday feeling refreshing and seasonably cool and dry. Expect highs on Friday to climb only into the upper 70s/low 80s. Surface winds return to a more southerly direction heading into the weekend, initiating a slow return of warmth and moisture. At the same time, we'll be tracking multiple waves moving in at the upper levels of the atmosphere which will take advantage of the added moisture in the atmosphere to produce more rain chances. Rather than what plagued us with rain last week, these will be much quicker moving systems. The thing is, we'll be tracking several which will leave us with chances for storms Saturday night into Sunday, again later in the day on Sunday. Then, we have more sporadic chances for scattered thunderstorms through the first half of next week. It likely won't rain all day each day, with chances for rain holding in the 30% to 50% chance ranges from the weekend through Wednesday. Temperatures this weekend will hover around 80. Due to repeated storm chances and added clouds, next week may stay in the 70s at least; at least through Wednesday.
