Tracking showers and storms next few days

TODAY:

Ongoing showers this morning will persist throughout the morning before beginning to taper off this afternoon. Rainfall will likely intensify throughout the mid to late morning, with a few rumbles of thunder likely as well. After a lull in precipitation during much of the afternoon, another round of showers and storms returns this afternoon along a cold front. This round will have the potential for small hail and more frequent lightning and thunder. The best chance for large hail remains mostly to our west, we won't rule out the possibility locally. With extensive rainfall and coverage, temperatures will struggle to climb to 60 this afternoon.

TONIGHT:

This round of storms will begin to exit shortly after midnight, to the southeast. Conditions will stay quiet for much of the night, with temperatures dropping into the 40's behind the front.

EXTENDED:

This front will begin to lift north again on Thursday. This brings scattered showers and storms back into the forecast by late Thursday morning. Temperatures will warm up as the warm front continues to lift north and winds pick up from the south, pushing temperatures back into the 70s for highs. Friday is looking a bit drier, but there will be a chance for showers and storms near the front across northern Missouri early in the day. We'll reach near or just above 80 degrees with strong south winds Friday into Saturday, with another cold front approaching from the west Saturday night. This will trigger showers and storms into Sunday, dropping temperatures back to near 70 or just below. Rain amounts over the next week could reach the 1-3" range.
