Tracking the next round of snow, cold start to the weekend
TONIGHT: Cloudy with snow showers likely through the night. 2-4" of snow accumulation possible with slick roads into the morning. Lows in the low 20s.
TOMORROW: Snow showers ending by mid-morning. Temperatures reach the low 30s with mostly cloudy skies.
EXTENDED: The second round of snow moves in tonight as forcing energy triggers more precipitation along a front stalled out to our south. Snow rates could be heavy at times, especially overnight. Snow showers are expected to move in again and be more robust after sunset through early Friday morning, and this is where we'll pick up most of our accumulation. Most areas will end up with 2-4", with 1-3" possible near the Lake of the Ozarks and I-44. Snow showers exit from north to south tomorrow, with Columbia and Jefferson City clear of snow by mid-late morning, and Lake of the Ozarks around the lunch hour. Clouds stick around during the day and temperatures only make it to about freezing Friday. Friday night gets quite cold with clouds clearing out and lows falling to about 10-12 degrees. Wind chills will be in the single digits Saturday morning. We'll likely have road issues through the Friday morning commute, but should see some improvement by afternoon as road temps increase. Saturday will bring plenty of sunshine but it's still cold with highs in the low 30s. We welcome back spring with highs near 60 on Sunday and continue that trend into next week. A weak front could bring showers Monday night, but next week is looking nice until the end with some rain in the forecast by next Thursday or Friday.
