Tracking a few showers Thursday, heat ramps up Friday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear to partly cloudy with lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy with a chance of a spotty shower or storm toward afternoon and evening. Highs in the lower to mid-80s.

EXTENDED: Expect a few more clouds tonight as a disturbance moves into the area on Thursday and brings a chance for some spotty showers and/or a few rumbles of thunder Thursday afternoon into the evening. Temperatures will remain in the low to mid-80s despite a wind shift to the south thanks to the cloud cover. Friday is warmer with temperatures reaching near 90 with an afternoon spot storm or two, especially north. No severe weather is expected. The weekend is steamy with highs in the low 90s and dew points getting back to near 70 degrees, meaning we'll likely see a heat index between 95-100 both days. There's a better chance of organized rain and storms with a weak front moving through Saturday night into Sunday, bringing us about 0.25" to 0.5" of rain, especially along and north of I-70. Severe weather isn't likely with this round. Given that rain moves out early, we'll be left with a hot and humid end to the weekend and start to next week. Heat and humidity hold on through at least Wednesday or next Thursday as temperatures remain in the low to mid-90s.
