Tracking seasonable temperatures, few storms by Wednesday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and muggy with lows in the upper 60s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, highs in the lower 90s. Heat index in the low to mid-90s.
EXTENDED: I am tracking a cold front that will move through on Wednesday and trigger scattered showers and storms by afternoon, but we don't have all of the ingredients for a severe weather setup. Non-severe storms could produce some brief heavy rainfall, but overall amounts should be less than 0.25" or so. We'll be a few degrees cooler behind the front on Thursday, but temperatures rise into the low 90s once again Friday. With moisture increasing over the region Friday as a front approaches by late afternoon or evening to the north, we'll see afternoon heat indices climbing to near 100 degrees. The front moves in late Friday into Saturday, bringing a better shot for more widespread rain, especially on Saturday. If we were to have a strong storm or two, the environment looks better on Saturday. The front begins to clear the area on Sunday, with rain trailing along it. Temperatures will be about 5 degrees cooler behind this system on Sunday. The weekly rain total looks to stay under 1" across all of Mid-MO.
