Tracking a sunny and warm holiday weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with patchy fog developing before sunrise. Lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and pleasant with highs in the mid-80s.

EXTENDED: We can expect some patchy fog to develop in the morning with temperatures falling to near the dew point. That wears off by mid-morning, leaving us with more sunshine and a seasonably warm day in the mid-80s. Sunday will be a bit warmer in the upper 80s, but dew points still in the mid-60s so we won't have to deal with a heat index. We're clear in the low to mid-70s by fireworks time on Sunday evening. Next week, we get under high pressure early on, with temperatures rising into the low 90s Monday and Tuesday, and a cold front settling to our north could bring a chance for showers and a few storms between Tuesday night and early Thursday. This retreats back north through the end of the week, so temperatures will still be in the upper 80s once showers retreat late in the week. Rain amounts for the entire 7-day stretch will be less than 0.5" total. Since the start of meteorological summer on June 1 we have recorded 13.13" of rain, putting us 8.75" above average for the time frame. River levels are steady but will drop below flood stage late this weekend. Jefferson City and Hermann are currently in moderate flood stage.
