Tracking the last of the rain overnight into Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers becoming more sparse by afternoon. Highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: Most of the measurable rainfall will come to an end south of I-70 by around midday with a few lingering spot showers or rumbles of thunder into late afternoon. A secondary front will move through by evening, clearing out clouds and bringing much cooler and more comfortable air by Thursday night. Lows on Friday morning will be in the low 60s with highs topping out in the low 80s through Saturday. Dew points will be much lower, making for a very comfortable weekend, which is not typical for Independence Day in Mid-Missouri! We're a touch warmer on July 4 with highs in the mid-80s, but we stay comfortable with dew points in the lower 60s. We get under high pressure late in the weekend into early next week, sending temperatures back into the upper 80s. A weak disturbance could send another cold front in from the north between Tuesday and Wednesday, hinting at our next chance for rain. River levels may briefly rise in the next 24 hours, but most areas will drop below minor flood stage on the MO River by the weekend.
