Tracking extreme cold and accumulating snow

TONIGHT: Extreme cold will arrive overnight tonight with lows falling below zero. Wind chill values will feel like we are in the negative teens and twenties. The National Weather Service has issued Wind Chill Warnings for the northwestern portions of the viewing area. The rest of us are under a Wind Chill Advisory.

SUNDAY: Another shot at snow develops on Sunday morning and continues into Monday. We should see a brief break from the snowfall in the afternoon. Temperatures will still be frigid over both days with highs in the single digits and wind chills in the negative double digits. Snow will start off light, but intensity builds with the second round of snowfall that is set to move in overnight into the workweek. This first round of snow will bring many of us trace amounts of snowfall to maybe 1" of accumulation.

EXTENDED: Overnight Sunday into Monday morning we'll see our heavies band of snow. We will see parts of Missouri pick up more accumulations; you can see the snowfall totals in our Insider Blog at https://abc17news.com/weather/2021/02/12/weather-alert-day-dangerously-cold-wind-chills-this-weekend. Temperatures will remain in the single digits to start off the week. We'll see a slow warm-up throughout the week, but we're also tracking more snow chances for mid-week.
