Tracking spotty showers tonight and tomorrow, near-record highs Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and chilly with lows in the low 40s. A few showers possible south of Highway 50. Patchy fog developing overnight.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy and a bit warmer with highs in the lower 60s. A few showers or storms will be possible near a warm front, especially for the northern half of the area.

EXTENDED: As the warm front continues to push north, we'll see winds pick up on Thursday into the 25-30 mph gust range from the southwest. In response, temperatures rise into the low to mid-80s by the afternoon, reaching near record highs in many locations across Mid-Missouri. A cold front quickly brings the warm up to an end Thursday night, with showers and thunderstorms developing across northwest Missouri. Showers and storms continue into Friday morning, with much cooler air behind the front. Temperatures fall from the 50s in the morning to the 40s during the day, starting out in the upper 30s for Saturday morning. The weekend is chilly with highs in the low 50s, and another front moving in Sunday that will bring a chance for showers through Monday. Much cooler air starts to move in Monday night into Tuesday, with lows near freezing on Monday night. Temperatures should stay well below average for much of next week.
