Tracking heat Saturday, storms late on Sunday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, breezy, and hot with highs in the upper 80s. Wind gusts up to 20-25 mph during the day.

EXTENDED: High pressure continues to dominate our weather this weekend with winds increasing from the south into Saturday, bringing temperatures up almost 10 degrees above normal. We start off Sunday dry, but an approaching cold front will bring changes by late afternoon and evening. Strong winds in the low and mid-levels of the atmosphere could aid in thunderstorm sustainability on Sunday evening, but the lack of instability will keep things from getting too out of hand. A few storms could be on the strong side Sunday evening, with 1" hail being the main concern along with steady rainfall. Rain amounts will range between 0.5" and 1" through Monday morning. Rain exits early Monday, with much cooler temperatures behind the front. Highs on Monday reach the mid-upper 60s with lingering cloud cover early. An upper level trough from Canada will continue to pull in much cooler than average air through the rest of the week, with highs making it to the 60s during the day and lows falling to the 40s each night. Outside of Sunday night's rain, it will be a struggle to get much more for the rest of the week.
