Tracking brutal heat and possible tropical rain this week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and muggy with lows near 70.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the mid-90s. Humidity allows the heat index to rise to near 100 degrees.

EXTENDED: The heat and humidity continues this week with an upper level ridge over us. Highs will be in the low to mid-90s through Friday, with heat indices between 96-100 each afternoon. Later this week, the remnants of Tropical Storm Laura could impact parts of the state, depending on how far north or south the track of low pressure goes. The farther north the track, the more rainfall is expected for Mid-Missouri. We'll be tracking a frontal boundary that will move through over the weekend into next week, along with several disturbances that could trigger rounds of showers and storms after this main system rolls through. Rain amounts through Monday will range between 1-2", with higher amounts south of I-44. Temperatures cool down with rain moving in, with highs in the low to mid-80s by this weekend.
