Tracking rounds of showers and storms, heavy rain possible

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild with lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Increasing clouds, chance of showers and thunderstorms increases through the day. Highs in the low to mid-80s.

EXTENDED: After a gorgeous Tuesday, the chance for rain returns as a front slides back north across the southern third of the state on Wednesday. Temperatures cool back down into the low 80s for the rest of the week in the wake of daily rain. The low level jet increases moisture across the region starting Wednesday night, and amplifies the potential for heavy rain across Mid-Missouri. This feature sticks around in to the end of the week, along with low pressure at the surface moving in by Thursday and Friday. All of these factors will contribute to the possibility of 1-3" of rainfall across Mid-Missouri by the beginning of the weekend. Low pressure tracks east into southern Illinois by Saturday, effectively ending our rain chances but temperatures remain below average into next week.
