Storms end, extreme heat settles in by Friday

TONIGHT: Storms end, with clouds sticking around overnight. Temperatures hold around 70 through dawn.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy and a bit less humid, with lower heat indices in the low 90s. Highs get into the upper 80s. Any rain chances will be tied to the front that will be draped across southern Missouri.

EXTENDED: The cold front responsible for today's storms will push southeast tonight into Thursday, keeping humidity lower and storms across southern Missouri. Heat and humidity return by Friday as the boundary lifts north as a warm front. This will bring temperatures back into the 90s for highs with heat indices between 100-102 degrees. Rain chances will be at a minimum over the weekend with high pressure in place. Dangerous temperatures settle in with highs in the upper 90s through Monday. Combined with humidity, we'll see the heat index between 103-106 across much of Mid-Missouri Friday-Monday.
