Tracking intense heat, storms by Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and humid with lows in the low 70s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the low 90s and the heat index in the 99-101 degree range.

EXTENDED: High pressure is still in control this week, although we'll likely be on the far eastern edge of it by the end of the week with a few disturbances rolling through from the northwest Thursday through Saturday. Storms are most likely on Thursday and Friday, with multiple rounds possible. Storms on Thursday could bring the risk of heavy rain and gusty winds. Over the weekend, we finally get a short break from the humidity on Sunday with dew points getting back into the low 60s, meaning even with our air temperatures near 90, it won't feel much hotter. Next week could potentially be our hottest of the summer with highs in the low to mid-90s.
