Tracking a big warm up, end of the week storms

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with a spot shower or two by daybreak. Lows in the low 60s.

TOMORROW: Heating up with temperatures rising into the upper 80s. Heat indices in the low 90s with minimal rain expected.

EXTENDED: As a warm front moves through the area on Friday coupled with upper level high pressure building over the region, temperatures rise into the upper 80s and low 90s. Heat index values on Friday will be in the 94-96 degree range with a chance for storms by late afternoon into the evening with a stalled cold front to our north. A few of the storms Friday night could become strong with isolated small hail and gusty winds. Heat continues Saturday and Sunday along with storm chances focused near the frontal boundary that is expected to be draped across northern Missouri. We'll have to watch northern areas for potential flooding if storms continue to develop across the same areas. Feels like temperatures on Sunday will be around 96 to 97 degrees with the humidity. Next week starts off hot with a chance for storms and a heat index in the upper 90s on Monday.
