Tracking rounds of storms over Father’s Day weekend
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few showers possible late, mainly north of I-70. Lows in the upper 60s.
FRIDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms by afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s.
EXTENDED: A cold front working its way into northwest Missouri Thursday night into Friday will be the focus of weekend storms. This front will stay positioned mainly across northern Missouri on Friday, keeping the best chance for organized storms north of I-70 into Friday night. The front will stall out on Saturday, giving us a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Given the ingredients in place; heat, humidity, and marginal wind shear, a few storms could be on the stronger side by early Saturday evening. Right now the threat for severe weather is somewhat low, but some storms may pose the threat of hail and gusty winds. The front tries to move more south on Sunday, keeping the focus for storms across the southern third of the state. Highs over the weekend will be in the upper 80s. Into next week, we'll see a series of disturbances slide through the region, triggering rounds of storms each day through Wednesday. We begin to cool down a bit by the middle and end of next week with highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s.
