WATCH: President says he will use military to quell violence

WASHINGTON, D.C.

President Donald Trump in brief remarks in the White House Rose Garden on Monday said he was bringing in "thousands" of soldiers and law enforcement officers to quell violence in the nation's capital.

The president also promised to use the military to intervene in local unrest if local governments cannot stop the violence.

Trump decried the death of George Floyd while in police custody, saying justice must be served.

The remarks come as reports say active-duty soldiers are on their way to Washington, which has been one site of protests over Floyd's death while in police custody.
