Columbia Parks and Rec to hold MLK Day walk; city offices closed Monday for holiday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Parks and Recreation on Monday will hold its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Candlelight Walk and Memorial Celebration, according to a Wednesday release from the city.

The candlelight walk will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Armory Sports Center, 701 East Ash Street.

The release states participants should meet in the basement of the facility; the lower level entrance is at the back of the building. According to the release, the walk will then head to St. Luke United Methodist Church for the memorial celebration at 7 p.m.

City offices closed

The City of Columbia also stated in a second press release that city offices will be closed on Monday in observance of the holiday.

The regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday.

Residential curbside trash will not be collected on the holiday and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week, according to the release.
