Crash after law enforcement chase causes hundreds of Three Rivers Electric Cooperative members to lose power
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -
More than 600 Three Rivers Electric Cooperative members lost power Friday night near Vienna when a law enforcement chase ended in a crash.
The utility said in a social media post that the outage happened after a crash damaged a pole. According to the company's outage map, the outage started at 9:59 p.m.
Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman told ABC 17 News that law enforcement chased a suspect across three counties. Tire spikes and a pit manuever led the suspect, Jeremy Sisk, to crash into a power pole. Law enforcement caught Sisk at Highway 63 near the Dollar General in Vienna.
Heitman said the pursuit started in Phelps County.
"Members of our office, Phelps County Sheriffs Office, Highway Patrol, and Osage County Sheriffs Office were just involved in a high speed chase that came from Rolla to Freeberg then back to Vienna again," Heitman wrote in a Facebook post. "Speeds reached 129mph at times and the suspect vehicle attempted to strike police units at least three times during the pursuit."
In the post, Three Rivers Electric Cooperative said it has crews headed to the area. The company did not say when power was expected to be restored.
Heitman said Sisk had three active warrants for his arrest and a revoked driver's license. Heitman said the vehicle was also reported stolen from Kirksville.
