Law enforcement officers respond to crash and crime calls after Mizzou Homecoming game

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

After Saturday's big win for the University of Missouri Tigers against the South Carolina Gamecocks, local law enforcement responded to a few crime and crash-related incidents near downtown Columbia.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Columbia Police Department responded to a hit and run on Rogers St. and N. College Blvd, conducted a traffic stop on E. Broadway and 6th St., and a DWI on E Broadway and Trimble Rd. They also responded to an assault call on the 100 Block of S. 9th St at 7:24 p.m.

There was also an accident on E. Broadway heading northbound at 8:42 p.m. Saturday.

Officers responded to two accidents this morning. One being in the intersection of S Providence Rd. and Locust St at 1:10 a.m. The second being in the 1100 block of E. Broadway at 1:41 a.m.

There were also a few disturbance and trespassing calls this morning, along with an auto theft on 10th St.

Boone County Sheriff's Office 0700 log did not report of any arrests made downtown Saturday and Sunday.

With homecoming weekend being a big deal around town, the university was expecting large crowds in the area, so they recruited extra law enforcement agencies to help manage it.

In addition to M-U's Police Department and Boone County Sheriff's Office, they also received additional aid from the Columbia Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. 15 extra firemen were also on call in case of an emergency.

Saturday's game brought in a crowd of 62,621 fans to the stadium, making this MU's third sell-out game in a row this season.
