Driver unhurt after semi-truck overturns, blocking Highway 54 for hours

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A semi-truck driver was unhurt after rolling his truck near the Missouri River bridge Tuesday at Jefferson City.

The crash happened a little before 7 a.m. when the truck hauling livestock fell onto its right side on Highway 54 at the tri-level overpass, according to a Jefferson City Police Department news release.

The Missouri Department of Transportations Central District said Highway 54 westbound was closed in Cole County from McCarty Street to Missouri Boulevard and the semi was blocking both lanes.

Police identified the driver as Chase Emmons, 18, of Chillicothe.

A rave alert was sent out at 6:56 a.m. about the crash near Highway 54 near the Highway 50 tri-level interchange.

The southbound lanes of Highway 54 were closed for about five hours.
