Jefferson City to use revitalization grant to improve area affected by 2019 tornado

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City official told ABC 17 News that the city plans to use $2,113,169 in the Community Revitalization Grant to improve the neighborhood near the old state penitentiary.

The neighborhood services supervisor said the city plans to use the funding to remove asbestos from the MSP buildings.

Demolition of empty and abandoned industrial buildings, fixing any damage caused by the 2019 tornado, creating sidewalks, crosswalks and street lights that would connect the MSP redevelopment to the neighborhood.
