Suspect charged in Jefferson City credit union robbery
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A 28-year-old Jefferson City man was arrested Thursday evening in relation to the Jan. 19 robbery at River Region Credit Union, according to a press release from the Jefferson City Police Department.
Cole County prosecutor Locke Thompson later identified the suspect as Tre J. Connor. Thompson said Connor had been charged with first-degree robbery, illegal use of a weapon, illegal gun possession and three counts of armed criminal action.
He was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Thursday after Jefferson City SWAT served a search warrant in the 3800 block of Candlelight Drive.
Employees of the credit union on Truman Boulevard said a man wearing all dark clothing and a ski mask jumped the counter and demanded access to the vault at gunpoint, according to a probable cause statement. Surveillance cameras saw the robber enter and leave the business on foot.
Investigators connected Connor to the robbery by identifying where the robber purchased the type of shoes and pants seen in the video, according to the statement. Surveillance video at Walmart showed a man who detectives identified as Connor buying both items a few days before the robbery, the statement says.
