COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Hickman High School Principal Mary Grupe sent an email to parents at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to make parents aware that there was no credible threat to the school.

A CPS spokesperson told ABC17 News that the district learned about a possible threat that was circulating on social media on Wednesday.

"Late this afternoon, we were alerted to a number of rumors going around regarding a graffiti message written on a bathroom stall wall that included the possibility of a threat to campus," the email says. "While we do not believe this is a credible threat, we wanted to make you aware of the situation and let you know that the school is taking this incident seriously. We treat all threats, real or rumor, seriously."

Grupe wrote that the incident is being investigated by school staff, district safety and security and local law enforcement.
